This video is a great introduction as to how we can teach basic science ideas right out of our kitchen. In this segment, we learn about how to use different types of playdough to light up LED's, make motors spin, and teach other electrical properties. It also includes a website for further exploration. I thought this was pretty interesting!
This video is pretty amazing. An experiment was done where a man took a computer and literally put it in the wall in some of the poorest most remote places in India to see if children would learn how to use a computer by themselves. Most of these kids had never seen a computer before, had no idea what the internet was and had certainly never touched a computer in their lives. The assertion was that children will learn to do what they want to do. Within hours kids had figured out how to get music on the web, how to speak English etc. Seriously worth watching!!

This video is about a non-profit organization about providing students with laptops in mainly third world countries. Schools provided with the laptops had a drop in truancy, more parents attending parent conferences and increased participation by students. I thought the video was a great concept that I did not know existed.
Melissa:
This video is presented by Sir Ken Robinson. It talks about how schools kill creativity. He is very funny to listen to and makes you think about the different ways we as teachers can allow our students to become more creative.
